Local jobs for local women

Community Wellbeing North Canterbury Trust is calling on North Canterbury employers to join them in helping local women into local jobs.

The Trust has partnered with Ministry for Social Development to support North Canterbury women into work, and is currently running a four-week supported employment programme for a small number of local women. The programme is designed to upskill the women, and enhance their employment readiness.

On completion of the pre-employment programme, it is intended that each woman commence a paid work placement. Employers offering placements may be eligible for wage subsidies.

“The work placement needs to run for at least three months so that the women achieve a worthwhile employment outcome,” says Trust Manager, Deirdre Ryan.

“These are motivated, local women, with a variety of skills and experience, who just need some extra support to gain employment. I encourage our local employers to join with us in giving these women the opportunity to shine.”

“Each woman placed in employment will receive in-work support from Community Wellbeing to help them transition successfully into your team.”

The Trust is looking for part-time and full-time employment opportunities for women, within the retail or hospitality sectors, or administrative and office support roles in any industry.
