COMMUNITY WELLBEING KAIAPOI FOODBANK COORDINATOR
Part time (30 hours per week)
Community Wellbeing North Canterbury Trust is the largest social services agency in North Canterbury. The Trust provides a range of free social and community services including:
- Family Social Work
- Early Childhood Education
- Restorative Justice
- Wellbeing support for rangatahi / young people including counselling and specialist drug and alcohol support.
- Wellbeing support for tamariki/ children in primary schools.
- A Kaiapoi based Foodbank
The Trust employs 40 professionals, with around 35 volunteers and has three operational bases (one in Rangiora and two in Kaiapoi).
This dynamic role involves coordinating the provision of food parcels at our Kaiapoi base while providing a rewarding experience for our awesome volunteers.

Karanga Mai Early Learning Centre has an exciting opportunity for a passionate Kaiako to join our whānau-focused learning community on a fixed term basis, while a permanent member of staff is on leave. We are seeking a trained Kaiako with a minimum of provisional registration, this position would ideally suit a newly qualified teacher.
Located on the Kaiapoi High School grounds, we provide high-quality, culturally responsive education and care for tamariki from young parents attending Karanga Mai Young Parents College, as well as children from our wider community.
At Karanga Mai, we work in genuine partnership with parents and whānau to create an environment where tamariki thrive. Our kaupapa is centred on building a strong sense of ūkaipō, where tamariki are nurtured to walk confidently in both te ao Māori and te ao Pākehā. Guided by the values of whanaungatanga, aroha, kaitiakitanga, ako, and manaakitanga, we aim to foster a sense of belonging, pride, and purpose in every child.
IDEAL PERSON SPECIFICATIONS
- Has a strong understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and can work in ways that are culturally sustaining.
- Embeds te reo Māori me ngā tikanga Māori into everyday teaching and learning.
- Is passionate about education and committed to being part of a learning community.
- Has a deep understanding of Te Whāriki and other relevant early childhood frameworks.
- Is dedicated to achieving equity for all ākonga and has a growing understanding of inclusive education.
- Builds strong, responsive relationships with tamariki and whānau, fostering a sense of connection and belonging.
- Has excellent communication skills, is a reflective practitioner, and contributes to the ongoing growth of our learning community.
- Holds a current, full drivers Licence.
- Flexible and responsive to meet the opportunities that the role brings.
