Community Wellbeing North Canterbury Trust is a locally led charity dedicated to strengthening the wellbeing of whānau, tamariki, and rangatahi across the Waimakariri and Hurunui districts. Our purpose is to walk alongside individuals and families, enhancing strengths, removing barriers, and supporting people to meet life’s challenges so they can thrive.
We provide free, accessible, wrap-around services including food support, mental health and social work support, parenting programmes, early childhood education, and restorative justice. Our approach is grounded in strong relationships and deep local knowledge, with a team of professionals and volunteers who live and work in the community.
Guided by Te Tiriti o Waitangi, we honour tangata whenua and work towards equitable outcomes alongside Māori. Our values of whanaungatanga, manaakitanga, whakamana, and tangata whenuatanga shape everything we do, ensuring our mahi is respectful, empowering, and rooted in care, connection, and belonging.
Particular skills/competencies sought
We are seeking an intermediate or experienced family and community worker to deliver community and home-based support to children and families facing complex challenges. Ideally, you already reside in or near the Hurunui community.
The Mana Ake – Stronger for Tomorrow initiative aims to work with and through school communities to support families and whānau when children from years one to eight are experiencing ongoing challenges that are impacting their wellbeing.
This full-time role will ideally suit a qualified Social Worker, Nurse, Counsellor, OT, or Teacher with a passion for working with children and families. Experience in child or family mental health settings is advantageous.
